Stucky: Radical Light (2015-16 Husa Professor)
Brahms: Symphony No.2, D Major

 Watch Live

Pulitzer prize winning composer Steven Stucky’s work from 2006-7 is balanced by Brahms’ second symphony. Stucky is the 2015-16 Visiting Husa Professor of Composition at Ithaca College and will present a pre-concert talk on the work. The SFGate raves that Radical Light unfolds in a single span that encompasses a wealth of moods and orchestral colors. Brahms’ second symphonic essay fell from his pen with relative ease after the torturous birth of its predecessor. The work unfolds gently, growing from the simplest of materials and undergoing constant variation until its radiant and brilliant ending.
