This summer we are continuing the H&S Summer Scholars program for H&S students working in the areas of creative arts, humanities, mathematics, and social sciences. H&S students can apply for a paid Summer Scholar position to engage full-time in 8 weeks of research, scholarly, or creative projects this summer, in collaboration with a faculty mentor. We will offer up to 10 such positions this summer.
The Summer Scholars Program provides H&S students with an opportunity to engage in a scholarly/creative project with direct and ongoing mentorship by an H&S faculty member. As a Summer Scholar, students are expected either to implement a project of their own design in collaboration with a faculty mentor, or to take on major responsibility for an independent component of a faculty-designed project. Students are expected to devote significant time and intellectual effort to these projects, and to meet the high expectations of their faculty mentors.
Different types of projects are suitable for this program, including:
• Creative Work (e.g., studio art, theatrical production, creative writing)
• Field-Based Study (e.g., interview, participant-observation, action research)
• Research Project (e.g., surveys, statistical analysis)
• Scholarship (e.g., archival research or text-based analysis)
Other types of projects may be considered.
For detailed information about eligibility and expectations, please consult the complete guidelines for the program; they are attached here, and can also be found online at https://www.ithaca.edu/hs/students/experiential/learninginhs/?item=9758
