Staff Council Solution Session #4 - Disrespect & Bullying - Please RSVP

02/09/16

Contributed by Sean Reilley

When: Thursday 2/11/16, 12:00pm - 1:00pm

 Where: A&E Center VIP Room

Who: All Ithaca College staff members who are willing to listen openly, respect differing opinions, and to engage in discussion while sharing ideas and constructive feedback are encouraged to attend.

During this session we will be asking staff to answer the following questions:

1.    As part of the Staff Council survey conducted in December, staff members were asked about their experiences with disrespect and/or bullying on campus. The survey results indicated that coworkers are the most prevalent sources of disrespect and bullying on campus.  What are some actions that can be taken to promote a more collegial atmosphere in the workplace?

2.    In addition to coworkers, supervisors and mid-level administrators were frequently reported as sources of disrespect and/or bullying.  Are there any additional actions that could be taken to improve this dynamic?

3.    Do you believe that there are sufficient processes in place for individuals to report their experiences with disrespect and/or bullying?  If not, what suggestions do you have for improving the existing reporting processes?

Staff Council will be using this feedback in conjunction with the results of our December survey to guide our efforts in working with the administration and other campus partners. We ask that individuals planning to attend please RSVP by e-mailing staffcouncil@ithaca.edu as soon as possible so we are able to reserve a large space if needed.

Staff who are unable to attend this session may share their feedback through a form on the Staff Council website or by e-mailing staffcouncil@ithaca.edu.

Thank you in advance for your constructive contributions in moving forward and working to improve the campus climate for all members of the Ithaca College campus community.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact staffcouncil@ithaca.edu. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
