Patricia Zimmermann and Dale Hudson invited Moderators for <empyre> International Dialogue

Patricia Zimmermann and Dale Hudson were invited by the prominent new media group <empyre> to moderate a month of discussions exploring themes in their  new book, Thinking Through Digital Media: Transnational Environments and Locative Places

Their work and discussions were featured on <empyre> during the month of November 2015, with the theme of “Transnational Environments and Locative Places.”  The discussion included new media artists featured in their book from Uganda, The Netherlands, South Africa, Belgium, Canada, India, Nigeria, Germany, Palestine, Indonesia, Kenya, and the United States. Themes included Mobile Apps and Environmental Performances, Transnational Collaborative Practice, Engagement of Place, and Speculations on Transnational Environments.

<empyre> is a highly visible international virtual community of new media theorists and practitioners, hosted by University of New South Wales, Australia.

Dale Hudson is Associate Teaching Professor and Curator of Film and New Media at New York University Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.  He also serves as New Media Curator for the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival at Ithaca College. He is a former screen studies  faculty member of the Roy H. Park School of Communications.

Patricia Zimmermann is Professor of Screen Studies and Codirector of the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival at Ithaca College.
