Please join Dean Karl Paulnack and the New York Voices on Tuesday, February 23rd, at noon in the Hockett Recital Hall for an open discussion on the role of jazz in the education of the 21st century musician.
Founded by alumni of the Ithaca College School of Music in 1986, New York Voices originally began as an invitational alumni ensemble that toured the European jazz festival circuit. Darmon Meader ’84, Peter Eldridge ’82, Kim Nazarian ’83, and Caprice Fox ’87 were joined by Sara Krieger as the New York Voices formally launched in 1988. Meader, Eldridge and Nazarian remain from the original group, with Lauren Kinhan joining in 1992 to cement their status as a quartet. Along with their extensive concert performance and recording schedules, New York Voices also works in the field of education, giving clinics at colleges and hight schools throughout the world.
The New York Voices will conclude their day on campus with a concert in memory of late music faculty member, Dave Riley, who passed on February 23, 2015. The concert will be at 7:00pm in Ford Hall and is free and open to the public. For more information on this event, please check the Ithaca College concert and events calendar and the press release for the memorial concert.
