The online submission process for faculty sponsors to submit student presentations for the 19th Annual James J. Whalen Symposium will close on Friday, March 4, 2016.
Students can now either:
Submit the Online Student Submission Form themselves OR
Contact a faculty collaborator to have them fill out the Faculty Online Submission Form.
IMPORTANT: Please only submit one form. DO NOT submit both.
Faculty can still submit multiple students' work.
Once the form(s) is/are submitted, an e-mail detailing next steps will be sent to you.
Submissions will be accepted for presentations, posters, and creative works. Please note that creative works include:
Live performance (dance, theatre, music, etc.):
solo performances
chamber ensembles
original compositions
original monologue or scene performances
analysis and performance of a scene or monologue
solo dance performances
original dance ensemble performance
Works of visual and media art:
film
photography
paintings
sculptures
costume and set design
Central to the success of the Whalen Symposium, we need the contributions of experienced faculty who can bring their expertise to the process.
Interested in volunteering as an Abstract Reviewer?
Faculty will electronically review 3-6 abstracts (500-750 words per abstract) during spring break to determine finalist presentations which will be highlighted at the Symposium. Award winners will be selected from the pool of finalists at the Symposium

Interested in volunteering as a Finalist Judge?
Faculty will judge a session (1/2 hour -3-4 finalist presentations) at the Symposium April 14 from 12–1 pm

Faculty will introduce student presentations for a session (1/2 hour – 3-4 presentations) to the audience.

Student Accessibility for the Whalen Symposium - pre-events and day of:
The Whalen Symposium Steering Committee encourages students who have qualifying disabilities to contact Yvonne Rogalski, Chair of the Committee at yrogalski@ithaca.edu at least one week in advance of any Information Session or other pre-Whalen event to ensure timely arrangements can be made for any necessary accommodations.
For accommodations at the Symposium itself, please make contact at least two weeks in advance to ensure necessary accommodations can be made.
