The Ithaca College men's basketball season will continue as the Bombers received the fourth seed in the upcoming Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro/Upstate Championship.
The Bombers will host fifth-seeded Medgar Evers College at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday inside Ben Light Gymnasium. The winner will then move on to face top-seeded Rutgers-Newark, which earned a bye in the opening round of play, on Saturday in the Golden Dome Arena in Newark, N.J.
IC finished the 2015-16 regular season with a 13-12 mark overall and is led by Marc Chasin, who was named First-Team All-Conference by the Empire 8 last week after averaging nearly 21 points per game during his sophomore season. Head coach Jim Mullins' squad also received strong contributions from Peter Ezema who posted 13 double-doubles during his freshman season. The New York City native led the conference and ranked eighth in rebounding at 11.6 boards per game. Ithaca's lone senior, Sam Bevan, paced the conference and ranked seventh in the nation at 6.4 assists per contest.
Overall, the Bombers ranked 30th among all Division III programs in points per game averaging over 85 points in each of their 25 games this season.
Ithaca last played in the ECAC Championship in 2010 when it defeated R.P.I. and Brockport to earn the title.
