Educational Affairs and The Center for the Study of Culture, Race and Ethnicity (CSCRE) are excited to invite current Ithaca College employees who meet the required qualifications to apply for the position of Director of Programs and Outreach.
The Director of Programs and Outreach will report to the Associate Provost for Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement and will work in collaboration with the Director of the Center for the Study of Culture, Race and Ethnicity.
The Director of Programs and Outreach will provide leadership and direction for program planning, services, and outreach support within the Center for the Study of Culture, Race and Ethnicity (CSCRE). To that end, the person who fills this position will be responsible for providing a safe space for students to discuss and archive micro-aggressions and other bias-related incidents; make referrals for services, and address concerns to assist in making Ithaca College an inclusive living and learning community. The Director of Programs and Outreach will also foster critical dialogues through the development, planning and delivery of workshops and other outreach events, as well as provide diversity and cultural competency training for faculty, staff and students. Additionally the person in this position will serve as a liaison and advocate for the CSCRE, in collaboration with the Center’s director, on campus and within the local community. The Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity (CSCRE) delivers a curriculum focused primarily on African-, Latino/a-, Asian-, and Native-American (ALANA) people in the U.S., who are usually marginalized, under-represented and/ or misrepresented in the normative curriculum. The CSCRE also fosters critical dialogues on race through its Discussion Series that brings several speakers, artists, and performers to Ithaca each year. This dual focus is meant to help students develop a comprehensive understanding of the multiracial and polycultural world in which we live.
