Please bring a song in English and be prepared to read dialogue from the script. Rehearsals start after spring break.
The opera will be staged April 23 in the Moot Courtroom, Cornell Law School. Later performances will be offered at the Tompkins County Courthouse and the Old Havana Courthouse Theatre in Montour Falls.
This special production honors both the 140th anniversary of Trial by Jury and the 130th anniversary of the Cornell Law School. Paired with scenes from Engaged, W.S. Gilbert’s 1878 farce on Victorian law and marriage, it deconstructs law and gender in one topsy-turvy entertainment.
