In this 2-hour presentation, Yolanda emphasized guildelines from the Council on Academic Standards (CAS) in HIgher Education for Learning Assistance Programs.  Other suggested practices and guidelines were drawn from her success at Ithaca College and from national certifying organizations such as the College Reading & Learning Association; the Association for the Tutoring Profession; the National Association for Developmental Education; and the National College Learning Center Association.  Foundational theories which framed portions of the presentation included ecological systems theory; student development theory; social cognitive theories; and management theories which address the supervisory needs of today's millenials.

The session closed with a rich discussion on the importance of student learning outcomes, evaluation and assessment as determinants for continuous quality improvement of services.
