b r 1 N k Presented by Cellist, Composer, and Multimedia Artist Kathy McTavish
Thursday, April 14 in Textor 102 from 7:30-9pm
b r 1 N k will explore relationships between musical polyphony and other multi-threaded dynamical systems. The talk will ponder the meaning and relevance of our creative pursuits in the age of anthropocene; our digital cave drawings; our scientific quests at the brink; our trembling before god; our hero's journey in the face of enormous planetary change.
"McTavish creates work that blends cello with found sounds and layered images in multichannel video and sound environments. Her interdisciplinary background in mathematics, ecology, music theory and computer science inform her work."
Lecture is free and open to the public.
