The Department of Writing invites all to the Handwerker Gallery this Tuesday at 6pm for an evening of poetry readings by IC faculty and students.

Tuesday's Handwerker Reading Series event will feature readings by Assistant Professor of Writing and English Christine Kitano, Writing major hakeem anthony, and ICM major / Writing minor Chris Rose. You can read more about these writers below.

Christine Kitano is the author of Birds of Paradise (Lynx House Press) and the forthcoming collection Sky Country (BOA Editions). Recent poems appear in The Asian American Literary Review, Connotation Press: An Artifact, Smartish Place, and Wildness. She teaches courses in creative writing, poetry, and Asian American literature.

hakeem anthony is a Writing major with an African Diaspora Studies minor. His work is influenced by other black artists--specifically hip hop--as well as by being multiracial, being a shy introvert, cartoons, and anime. Also, he thinks rap.genius.com is one of the best websites ever invented.

Chris Rose is a senior IMC major with a Writing minor. He writes poems for fun. One time he helped teach poetry at Ithaca Writers Institute, and his work has been published a couple of times in on-campus magazines. He has no solid plans for post-grad life, and he's sure he'll accomplish them.
