Comedians no longer want to perform on college campuses. Have students forgotten how to take a joke?
On April 13th at 8 PM in Textor 103, the Ithaca College chapter of Young Americans for Liberty will host the campus debut of a new documentary entitled Can We Take a Joke?
Two Student Comedians will perform before the event, and featured Comedian Karith Foster will hold a Q&A after the film.
More than 340 university campuses nationwide are also participating in this coordinated campaign to defend every student’s right to Free Speech.
C.J. Sailor, YAL’s Director of Free Speech, said of the campaign, “This issue affects all students—conservatives, liberals, libertarians, blacks, Latinos, Asians, whites, and everyone else in between. It puts a choke hold on the exploration of ideas which is the hallmark of intellectual growth for our nation's future leaders—we must unite to protect speech for all.”
The documentary, Can We Take a Joke?, stars comedians Adam Carolla, Lisa Lampanelli, Gilbert Gottfried, and Penn Jillette and will officially be released later this year. It shows the problems with political correctness through the eyes of comedians whose jokes fall flat on overly sensitive audiences.
The film screening is free and open to the public:
