Eric Machan Howd Recognized as Academic Technology Innovator

Eric Machan Howd (Lecturer in Writing, IC H&S Class of 1990) received a national innovation award for preparing students and faculty for online learning; he has also been asked to coordinate electronic portfolio (ePortfolio) efforts across the State University of New York (SUNY).

Eric Machan Howd (Lecturer in Writing, Class of 1990 Alum) was recently asked to coordinate electronic portfolio (ePortfolio) efforts across the State University of New York’s (SUNY) sixty-four campuses. Eric has been a recognized leader in SUNY regarding ePortfolios and the power of reflective-based pedagogies for almost ten years; he currently works full-time as the Director of Instructional Design in the Center for Learning and Teaching at Binghamton University. Eric also teaches Professional Writing with Ithaca College's Writing Department. In addition, he received a national award from the North American Association of Summer Sessions (NAASS) for his innovative development of a self-paced orientation to being a successful online learner; this online course also doubles as a faculty-development tool for creating engaging and inclusive online learning environments.
