The New York Press Association and the Society of Professional Journalists Northeast Region held their annual conventions the weekend of April 8–10 and presented their respective professional and student press awards.
Once again, The Ithacan was named Best College Newspaper in New York State by the NYPA and received numerous individual awards. in addition, stories from the paper took First Place in the Best News Story category from both organizations. The awards were for work produced during the 2015 calendar year (Jack Curran ’15, editor-in-chief Spring 2015; Kira Maddox ’16, editor-in-chief Fall 2015).

Evan Popp, Second Place for Feature Story for“Elephant in the Room."
Kayla Dwyer, Honorable Mention for Feature Story for “The Vision I Have,” her profile of student Tim Connors.
Marissa Booker, First Place for Column Writing for her “Into Identity” columns.
Evin Billington, Third Place for Column Writing for her “Jetsetters” columns from Morocco.
Samantha Fuller, Second Place for Photography.
Amanda den Hartog, Third Place for Photography.
Tommy Battistelli, Honorable Mention for Photography.
