ITHACON, held on the IC Campus Saturday and Sunday has lots to offer kids of all ages: a classic comic book convention, crafts, comic creation workshop, pokemon, Harry Potter Trivia, cosplay, and a coloring contest.
Saturday visit our classic Comic Book Convention, see new and classic comics and meet the artists and writers who made them. Have your face painted, enter our coloring contest, make your own ITHACON button. Learn a new board game from the Enchanted Badger. Be immersed in Virtual Reality. Watch classic anime kids’ cartoons like Astroboy. Learn how to publish your science fiction.
Saturday afternoon learn how to make your own comic from Steve Ellis. At 2pm break out your best cosplay costume, strut the Red Carpet and do a photo session with your own photographer.
Sunday from 10am to 1pm kids can hunt zombies (college students) with nerf blasters, be transformed into their own personal superhero, attend Quidditch Boot Camp, play Pokemon, and navigate the TriWizard maze. People of all ages can compete in Magic: The Gathering, League of Legends, and Super Smash Brothers tournaments. There will be classic video games to play, and also brand-new games to explore: RPG, 3-D, and Virtual Reality.
At 1 pm Sunday SAMMUS takes the stage to share her nerdcore hip-hop and talk about race, hip-hop, gaming, and feminism.
The event closes with our Charity Trivia Tournament, The Tori Cup on Sunday afternoon from 2pm-6pm. Teams of all ages share their love and knowledge of Harry Potter, Pokemon, Gaming, Anime, Classic Science Fiction, and Comics to compete for fabulous prizes. Cost per team: $10, all proceeds go to The Harry Potter Alliance and This Star Won’t Go Out. See http://toricup.webs.com/
