Have you heard about I.C. offering the R.A.D. self-defense program to students, but wondered what exactly that is or if you'd be interested? This Friday, May 6, is your chance to check it out! From 11 to 1 p.m., stop by the Clark Lounge in Campus Center to get info about the course, check out R.A.D. equipment and demonstrations, and maybe try hitting some pads yourself!
R.A.D. is a national self-defense initiative geared toward women with a particular focus on sexual assault prevention, and is offered at I.C. through the Office of Public Safety. However, we are looking to expand I.C.'s R.A.D. offerings to include more options for men, and the content is applicable to a variety of self-defense situations. We hope you'll check out this week's demonstration, share your ideas for how the program should grow, and let us know if you're interested in taking the full 12-hour course offered at least twice per academic year!
