The following is submitted on behalf of Provost Rifkin:

I am pleased to announce that we will create a new advisory council to begin its work next year.  The Educational Affairs Advisory Council will consist of faculty, staff, and students, and will meet once a month to advise the Provost on matters of concern to members of the EA community.  In 2016-2017, the EAAC will meet on the following Thursdays
from 3:00 to 4:30 pm:

Sept. 29
Oct. 27
Nov. 17
Dec. 8
Feb. 9
Mar. 9
Apr. 13

The group will consist of 6 faculty (2 from H&S and one from each of the other schools), 4 staff (including one staff member from Athletics and one from Residential Life) and 2 students.  Individuals serving on the EAAC will be elected through their school governance council (for faculty), by the staff (through the efforts of the EA Staff Professional Development Committee) and by the SGA (for the students).  The term of service is 2 years and we will stagger the terms of those starting in Fall 2016; students will be asked to serve at least one full year but if academic scheduling conflicts arise, a student on the EAAC will be replaced by another student through an SGA process.

I have asked the relevant governance bodies to run their selection processes and inform me of the names of the individuals who will serve on the EAAC no later than September 15 in order to prepare for the first meeting of this group on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 3 pm.

Benjamin Rifkin
Provost and VPEA
