Donathan Brown, Department of Communication Studies, will be the College's next Fulbright Scholar.  As part of the Core Fulbright U.S. Scholars Program, he will spend January through May of 2017 at the University of Maribor in Slovenia.  He will be housed in the Departments of English and American Studies, teaching and creating curriculum related to his research expertise in race and American public policy.  He will give public lectures throughout Slovenia and serve on university committees.

The Fulbright award supports scholars whose activities (both research and teaching) recognize the critical relationship between education and international understanding.  Of particular value are "broad multiplier effects" that result from sharing knowledge with colleagues, students, and the general public in a host country, while acquiring new knowledge to share upon return to the U.S.

The application submitted by Dr. Brown survived an intense, three-layer review process, including an initial disciplinary review here in the U.S., a review in the potential host country facilitated by the country's embassy, and a final layer of review back in the U.S.

Congratulations to Dr. Brown on this distinguished award.
