It is with sincerely mixed emotions that I share with the campus community the fact that Andrea Duffy, Interior Designer with the Facilities Planning, Design & Construction department, will be leaving the College as of June 9th. Andrea has been an important and valued member of the Facilities team for more than five years, and has provided stellar service to the campus community. Despite our strong preference that Andrea remain a member of the IC Facilities family, we are so very pleased that she is relocating to Virginia to join her husband.
Although effective in all that she undertook at IC, I count among Andrea’s more significant contributions, the following: implementation of the web-based inventory system for surplus furniture; designing and managing interior renovation projects for classrooms and office spaces (including the East Tower 14th floor DIIS office suite, the Williams, Smiddy, and CHS classroom and lab renovations, and the Towers Dining Hall); and, being a critical member of the project team for some of the recent and more substantial construction projects – most notably construction of the A&E Center and renovation of the Hill Center. It is noteworthy to mention that simultaneous to making these – and other – significant work contributions, Andrea also became a Certified Interior Designer (CID) and completed her Master of Science degree in Communications.
The Facilities team will be hosting a coffee and cake reception on the afternoon of June 9th from 2-4 pm in the Facilities Conference Room. Please stop in to thank Andrea for her contributions to the College, and to wish her well in all of her future endeavors.
