Introduction to the Co-curricular Transcript - for IC faculty and staff

06/14/16

Contributed by Michele Lenhart

Ithaca College will be introducing a co-curricular transcript for all undergraduate students beginning in August 2016. This transcript is intended for experiences outside of the classroom where learning is guided by an office or organization at Ithaca College. The next information session will be held on Wednesday, June 15 from 1:30-2:30pm in the Career Services Resource Room.

Do you sponsor co-curricular learning experiences that could be included on the co-curricular transcript? The co-curricular transcript (CCT) is a basically a list of groups students are members of and events they have participated in. It is a distinct document from the academic transcript (it does not contain items that are part of any credit-bearing course), and it is not as comprehensive as a portfolio.

IC OrgSync is the system used to record student involvement in organizations and activities, create the transcript formatting, and distribute official CCTs. More than 80% of the student body is already using OrgSync to sign up for events, membership in groups, etc. and we expect this number to rise to close to 100% within a year.

Some of the departments already using OrgSync to manage student participation include:

Groups who are planning to develop portals this summer:

Other potential experiences that could be included to make a comprehensive CCT:

To register your office/department/group, please click here fill out the request form. In order for Ithaca College to offer students a comprehensive co-curricular record, it would be great to have new portals created by August 2016.

If you would like to learn more, please attend a training on the what/why/how of the co-curricular transcript, please join us for the next training on Wednesday, June 15 from 1:30-2:30pm in the Career Services Resource Room.
