Yvonne Rogalski (Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology) presented at the Clinical Aphasiology Conference in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Her presentation titled "Global coherence and the untrained ear: An exploratory study examining listener judgments of discourse coherence," found that participants who do not have any training in discourse analysis can accurately differentiate between degrees of topic maintenance when listening to narratives. These findings have clinical implications for detecting meaningful differences in discourse in adults with acquired communication disorders.
