Scott Erickson, Professor in the Department of Marketing/Law, School of Business, has been selected as a Fulbright-National Science Foundation Arctic Research Scholar for 2016/2017. Under the Fulbright-NSF program, he will conduct Arctic-related research while based at Akureyri University, Iceland.  The grant is an offshoot of the Fulbright Arctic Initiative:

“At its core, the Fulbright Arctic Initiative will create a network to stimulate international scientific collaboration on Arctic issues while increasing mutual understanding between people of the United States and the people of other countries.  Using a collaborative model to translate theory into practice, program participants will address public-policy research questions relevant to Arctic nations’ shared challenges. “

The proposed research will focus on the knowledge networks driving sustainability attitudes and behaviors, providing insight into the most effective social marketing approaches for change.  In particular, through social network mapping, specific segments can be identified and better understood in terms of individual influencers and their connections.  Whether links extend across segments can also be determined.

The Fulbright Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is the U.S. government’s flagship international exchange program and is supported by the people of the United States and partner countries around the world.
