We want to take this opportunity to say thank you to the over 60 people who took time out of their busy schedules to attend the NACUBO webcast on race, diversity and inclusion in Textor 101 this past Thursday.
The preliminary feedback is that it went well and the discussions were pointed, needed and well received. The questions that were fielded live, and those discussed after the event ended, showcased that this issue is one that continued engagement is going to be required to reach meaningful and impactful solutions. The attendee listing was a mixture of Ivy League, Elite private institutions, community colleges, higher education trade associations, liberal arts institutions, comprehensive institutions, and flagship R1 state institutions. That grouping of varied institutions highlighted yet again that this issue is on the minds of higher education leaders all across the nation. To have Ithaca College playing a small role by adding to the discussion was a huge plus for us in terms of connecting with others who are earnestly trying to address this issue in a comprehensive way. For the many people on campus who believe that Ithaca College can be a model for the nation in addressing the issue of race, diversity and inclusion, this was a major first step.
Thanks again, and please remember a standing invitation is open to the campus community to join in the weekly discussion with the division of finance and administration. The discussions take place typically on Wednesdays at noon in Klingenstein Lounge. Send Jaimie Voorhees an email at jvoorhees@ithaca.edu if you would like to receive a weekly email reminder. Working together in a collaborative effort can get us to the point where we can become the change we want to see.
