Congratulations to departing Vice President for Finance and Administration Gerald Hector, who recently took part in a local discussion and national discussion on diversity and inclusion issues, both of which are available for online listening. Gerald has been catalyst for engaging members of the campus community in conversations on these issues over the past year.

On June 30, he was invited by the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) to participate in a webcast, “The CBO’s Role in Diversity and Inclusion on Campus,” offering insights and guidance on how to support the integration of inclusive excellence, equity, and diversity on college campuses.

Joining Gerald in the discussion was Mary Ontiveros, vice president for diversity at Colorado State University. Marta Perez Drake, vice president for professional development at NACUBO, served as the moderator.

You can listen to the webcast here, after entering the password “NACUBO.”

Gerald was also interviewed by Ithaca radio station WHCU for the weekly program “All Things Equal.” Gary Stewart, director of community relations at Cornell University, talked with Gerald about his efforts to encourage productive—and sometimes painful—dialogue among students, faculty, and staff.

You can listen to the interview here.

Kudos to Gerald on this well-deserved recognition for his many contributions toward improving the campus climate on these difficult issues.
