Ithaca College has announced the appointment of Janet Williams as Interim Vice President for Finance and Administration, effective August 1. Williams has served as Controller—the number two position in the division—since this past February. She succeeds Gerald Hector, who has accepted an offer to become the Vice President for Financial Affairs at Cornell University.

Williams has over two decades of experience in strategic planning, operations and financial management, and budget development. Prior to joining Ithaca College, she had served as Director of Finance and Administration for the Department of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences at Cornell University. She has also served in several senior management roles with Lockheed Martin, Corning Inc. and Kraft Foods. She holds an MBA in production operations management and earned her CPA license in 1989.

“Though she has been at IC only a short time, I have been deeply impressed by Janet’s embrace of our college mission and her thoughtful approach to leadership,” said President Tom Rochon. “I am pleased that she will step into this role at such a critical time, as we continue to focus on strategies to make an Ithaca education affordable and accessible for our students and their families.”

“I look forward to continuing my work with the talented team in the Division of Finance and Administration, and to reaching out to the wider campus community to help ensure that our shared goals are met,” said Williams.

The search for a permanent vice president will take place following the appointment of the college’s next president.
