The Physical Therapy and Exercise and Sports Science departments at Ithaca College are teaming up to conduct a research project called the Wellness and Cancer Survivorship Program that will offer a free fitness membership to cancer survivors for the fall semester at the Ithaca College Wellness Clinic. We are looking to identify individuals who have had a diagnosis of non-metastatic cancer (stage 1-3) and are within 2 years since their final treatment who would be interested in participating in a supportive and individualized fitness program.
Interested participants must have completed treatment (chemo, radiation, surgery) and be considered in remission, or partial remission in the case of blood cancers. Individuals undergoing ongoing hormone therapy are permitted. Those interested must also not be involved in a formal fitness program or involved in regular exercise (exercise less than the recommended guidelines of completing aerobic exercise 150min/wk and strengthening 2 days/wk).
This program is offered to Ithaca College Faculty, Staff and students as well as the Ithaca Community. So if you or a loved one need help getting back into a safe and individualized fitness routine after treatment, and are interested, please contact Jill Mayer by phone, 607-274-5825, or email Jmayer@ithaca.edu
