The 2016 FLEFF Diversity Scholars Initiative will bring to Ithaca College fifteen graduate students from a wide range of disciplines from groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education. FLEFF Diversity Scholars will attend the World Music Festival, FLEFF Faculty Forums, and will meet Ithaca College faculty and students. Strong preference will be given to students who are ABD or late stage MFA’s including late stage MS in Communications. This three day, October 23-25th inside look will showcase the artistic and intellectual environment at Ithaca College.
During the three day program, the FLEFF Diversity Scholars will attend and/or participate in the 2016 World Music Festival Concert, the FLEFF Research Forums on the Geographies of Inclusion, Cultural Fluency and Global Citizenship and meet Ithaca faculty, students and administrators at a number of receptions and dinners. The FLEFF Research Forums are being held as part of the Second Annual Symposia on Inclusion, Cultural Fluency, and Global Citizenship. The Diversity Scholars will also have an opportunity to share their research interests with the Ithaca College community.
Whether FLEFF Diversity Scholars are pursuing a degree in the field of communications, music, business, humanities, sciences or health related fields, the Diversity Scholars will leave Ithaca College with a much greater awareness of the value of being at Ithaca College.
Faculty and the entire Ithaca College community are asked to share information about the FLEFF Diversity Scholars program with eligible graduate students. Applicants should send a CV and letter of interest to FLEFFdiversityscholars2016@gmail.com. Scholars will be selected on a rolling admission basis. All reasonable travel costs will be covered. The itinerary for the October 23-25th Diversity Scholars event is below.
Ithaca College faculty interested in helping to coordinate the FLEFF Diversity Scholars event should contact Warren Schlesinger, Associate Professor, at warren@ithaca.edu.
