Dear campus community –
Prior to the start of the semester, a number of IC members felt it was important to bring the campus together to discuss the violence that occurred throughout the summer. Our original goal was to discuss both national and global events.
As we know, violence is not restricted by geography. It happens everywhere and has recently touched our campus most profoundly with the loss of Anthony Nazaire. This loss to our campus leaves many of us hollowed out; searching for words; and clinging to the reassurance of others.
There can be great power in the act of coming together – particularly in response to tragedy. For that reason, the Campus Gathering announced for Wednesday, August 31 will still be held. The original event details follow below, AND we will also take time to honor and remember Anthony.
Campus Gathering: Let’s Talk Over Food
Wednesday, August 31, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Emerson Suites
This gathering is meant to provide members of the campus community (students, faculty, staff and administrators) an opportunity to come together to share food and conversation about the difficult and violent national and world events that have taken place this summer.
If you plan to attend, please RSVP so event organizers have a sense of how many people are coming.
