What's going on with the union[s]? Contingent faculty are currently in negotiations. Come find out how this is going, how you can support your faculty, and how contingent faculty issues at IC are part of a larger national movement.

On Tuesday September 6th at 6pm, there will be a Contingent Faculty Teach-In.  Join us in Whalen 2105.

This event is free and open to the public. We encourage faculty to come learn more about our union and where we're at in the bargaining process.  Because our working conditions are IC students' learning conditions, we also encourage students to come to the teach-in and get involved.

Some quick facts:

-One in four classes at IC are taught by contingent faculty

-Nationally, 25% of part-time faculty are on some form of public assistance, such as Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program, food stamps, cash welfare, or the Earned Income (analysis by UC Berkeley's Center for Labor Research and Education)

-IC employs approximately 300 part-time or contingent full-time faculty and 500 full-time faculty with job security

WHERE: Whalen 2105

WHEN: Tuesday, September 6th at 6pm
