09/25/16

Contributed by Rachel Gould

The inaugural event of the Second Annual Symposia on Inclusion, Cultural Fluency, and Global Citizenship will be held Monday, September 26, 3:00-6:00 pm, in Klingenstein Lounge. Our guest presenter, Dr. Aziz Rana of Cornell University, will speak on “Black Internationalism and the Legacy of the Civil Rights Movement” .  A panel and facilitated discussion moderated by Dr. Peyi Soyinka-Airewele will follow, with panelists Dr. Stewart Auyash, Dr. Sean Eversley Bradwell, and Dr. Carlos Figueroa.  Light refreshments will be provided.

This event is coordinated by the Center for Faculty Excellence, the Office of the Associate Provost for Diversity and Inclusion, and the Office of International Programs and Extended Studies.  These offices are collaborating to facilitate the continuation of the conversation that started in September 2015 with the first symposium on Inclusion, Cultural Fluency, and Global Citizenship. This year, we propose to underscore more pointedly the relationship between domestic inclusion and global citizenship in keeping with the expectations of our institutional mission.

We hope you will be able to join us today, Monday, September 26 for the first event in this series for the 2016-17 academic year.  Please also reserve the following dates on your calendar for the second and third symposia of the fall semester:
