The Writing Department invites you to visit the Handwerker Gallery this Tuesday (10/4) at 6:00pm for its second Handwerker Reading Series event of the fall semester. The Handwerker Reading Series celebrates the writing of students and faculty within the IC community.
Tuesday night's reading will feature readings of fiction and poetry by the following Writing Department faculty and student:
Vinita Prabhakar teaches Creative Writing courses at Ithaca College & at Hobart & William Smith Colleges. She received her MFA from Syracuse University where she completed The Half Light Dwellers, a collection of short stories, whose central characters--part bollywood, part noir--seem to exist at that vanishing point between delusion and illusion, insight and dysfunction.
Gina Keicher is the author of the poetry collection Wilderness Champion and the chapbook Here is My Adventure I Call it Alone. She is an associate editor for Black Lawrence Press and a lecturer at Ithaca College.
MaryBeth Cooper is a senior Cinema & Photography major and Writing minor from South Carolina. Currently, she is an intern at Cayuga Lake Books, where she works with the senior editors to prepare, promote, and sell their upcoming poetry anthology. She is also a cat enthusiast. After graduation, she plans to enroll in an MFA program in fiction and to continue writing about dysfunctional characters or the next thing that comes to mind. As usual, this reading will be followed by a short open-mic reading event -- so feel free to bring something to share!
