Created by Michael Levine, of the Dallas Brass, Harmony Bridge(TM) is designed “to connect public school band musicians with seniors in retirement homes and communities.” Through a carefully developed and sequenced curriculum, public school-age children are provided the skills and resources to rehearse, predominantly independently, and perform in small ensembles, for residents of area senior communities utilizing “music of their time.”
As part of Ithaca College’s Music and Lifelong Learning Symposium, Keith Kaiser, Professor of Music Education, along with Michael Levine, founder, and Yvonne Allen & Jay Stoltzfus, music teachers with the Horseheads Central School District, will be giving a presentation entitled "Harmony Bridge(TM): A collaborative initiative designed to advance the ideal of Music for All – for Life."
Friday, 10/14 from 5:40-6:25pm in Hockett Recital Hall.
This presentation will provide an overview of this initiative as well as initial findings related to research being conducted on the impact of Harmony Bridge(TM).
As a component of this presentation, students from the Horseheads Central School District performed a tremendously well-received Harmony Bridge(TM) performance for the residents of Longview.
