Beginning on October 25th the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management will be conducting a sweep of the campus for the purpose of removing bicycles and bicycle parts that are obviously abandoned and/or parked where they should not be.  The sweep is being conducted to improve campus safety, maximizes the availability of bike parking resources and improve the beauty of our campus environment.

According to newly adopted Ithaca College Bicycle Policy, a bicycle is considered abandoned when it is ..."found under circumstances which reasonably indicate that it has been abandoned (e.g., it appears to be inoperable and/or it does not appear to have been moved for an extended period of time)".

Bicycles will be tagged.  Seven days later any bike that has not been removed will be confiscated.  Impounded bicycles will be stored for a period not less than 90 days and in accordance with New York State Personal Property Law.

The campus community can help in this effort by reporting any suspected abandoned bicycles to parking@ithaca.edu.
