Submitted on behalf of Tanya Saunders, Assistant Provost
It is my pleasure to invite faculty applications for the Fall 2017 or Spring 2018 semester of the London Sabbatical Program. Applicants should be eligible for an approved and funded sabbatical from their school covering faculty salary either for the Fall 2017 or Spring 2018 semester. The selected faculty members are expected to teach one course complementary to the London Center curriculum, interact with London Center instructors and students, and attend London Center faculty meetings. A course with an ICC designation is preferred.
In exchange for teaching one course (assuming sufficient enrollment) appropriate to the Ithaca College London Center experience, the selected faculty member will receive one round trip economy airline ticket to London from the nearest major airport, the use of the College’s 2.5 bedroom house in Collier’s Wood for one semester, and access to London Center facilities. Family members may accompany the faculty member at the faculty member’s expense.
The house in Collier’s Wood is a 2 to 3 minute walk from the Collier’s Wood tube (subway) station (in zone 3 on the Northern Line) and near a major shopping center ( 5 to 10 minute walk). It is a 15-minute bus ride to Wimbledon town center (shops, restaurants, theatre, and the fabled All England Club for tennis lovers). On average, a tube ride from Collier’s Wood to the Gloucester Road tube stop for the Ithaca College London Center is 40 minutes. The house is furnished and includes a washing machine, dryer, computer with internet access, guidebooks, instructions, and a garden in the back. Please note, however, that the “third” bedroom is very small (the size of a closet) and only large enough for a small crib (the room has a small window) or for use as an office. There are two sofa-beds downstairs. The selected faculty members will need to provide a damage deposit to the College before moving into the house.
The College is not able to provide special equipment, musical instruments, or other amenities. Please note that K-12 education will not be available to accompanying minors unless they are eligible under UK law. The children of previous sabbatical recipients have not been eligible. The sabbatical faculty are invited to participate in college field trips (e.g., Bath and Stratford every term) with ICLC students; any accompanying family members must pay for the cost of participation.
Interested faculty eligible for sabbatical during the Fall 2017 or Spring 2018 semester should provide a letter of application, a one-page C.V., evidence/statement of teaching excellence, and an outline of the ICC- designated course proposed for the London Center.
Please submit your application documents to Tanya Saunders, Assistant Provost, Job 203, by Monday, December 19, 2016. The selected faculty members (one for each semester) will need a letter indicating their dean’s support for an approved sabbatical during Fall 2017 or Spring 2018. By Spring Break 2017, we intend to announce the names of the faculty members selected.
Thank you.
