Effective Tuesday, November 22nd, there will be two new wireless networks at Ithaca College:
Though the new networks will actually be visible beginning on Monday, November 21st, we ask that the campus community refrain from connecting to them until Tuesday, 11/22, after we have completed our final testing. We'll be making sure that the new networks are visible from all academic and administrative buildings, and otherwise working as expected.
Most devices should easily be able to connect to the new networks by simply choosing them from the list of available networks and entering valid credentials (if needed). However, the exact steps will vary depending on the type of device and whether it is a personal or College device. The information below is specifically for connecting to the IthacaCollege secure wireless network, as community members generally should not need to connect to the guest network.
College Windows Laptops:
College Windows laptops should automatically connect to the IthacaCollege secure network beginning on Tuesday, 11/22.
College Mac Laptops
On College Mac Laptops you will need to manually connect to IthacaCollege by choosing it from the Wi-Fi network list. You will also need to go to your list of wireless networks and move IthacaCollege to the top of the preferred networks list.
Personal Devices
On personal devices such as Mac and Windows laptops, tablets, iPhones and Android phones, simply choose the IthacaCollege network from the list of available networks and enter valid credentials.
The new wireless networks will replace the existing ICAirnet and ICAirnet-Secure wireless networks as of sometime in January, but both the current and new networks will be visible and functional until then. We’re keeping the old and new networks online for an ample period of time to allow for the resolution of any problems in transitioning to the new networks.
The My-ResNet wireless network is not impacted by these changes, and users of that network will not need to make any changes to their devices.
For detailed instructions for connecting from different devices see: IC Wireless Network Connection Information. Should you encounter any problems using the new networks, please stop by the Service Desk at your convenience for assistance.
