On November 4, 2016, Karryn Olson-Ramanujan of the Environmental Studies and Sciences department was the keynote speaker for the Women, Food and Agriculture Network's annual conference in Nebraska City, Nebraska.

The theme of the two-day conference was Women and Permaculture: Making a Living in Harmony with the Land.  Karryn's focus on supporting women's leadership in permaculture enabled her to share insights with women farmers (only 14% of prinicipal farm operators are women, but women are 22% of the principal operators on organic farms). The title of her speech was "Co-creating our Regenerative Future: Why Permaculture, Why Women, Why Now?"
