Thank you to all who have already donated! The Campaign is off to a great start! Did you know that you can contribute directly to the Ithaca College Student United Way fund?
Ithaca College Student United Way (IC SUW) is a student-led initiative dedicated to community-wide charitable and volunteer efforts. As an organization, we raise funds to award to local nonprofits through a competitive grant process.
Each spring, we hold an annual Family Carnival at the IC Fitness Center. This is a fun, family-oriented event which includes a bounce house, food, raffles, carnival-themed crafts, games, and live performances. IC SUW organizes the entire event and uses the funds raised to make our fall grant allocation possible.
As a culmination of our yearly efforts, our fall grant allocation involves a comprehensive review of grant applications from local nonprofit agencies. As a group, we decide how to allocate our funds based on where we believe this money can go the farthest and assist agencies in providing necessary services for our community. In 2015, we allocated $1500 between The Cancer Resource Center and The History Center.
Because our grants go directly to nonprofit agencies in the Ithaca area, our impact is is often immediate and local. By allowing our work to come full circle each year by raising money at the Family Carnival and then allocating it in the fall, IC SUW aims to connect with local nonprofits and give back to the community where it's needed the most.
