The Ithaca chapter of Writers Resist will host "Justice for All: A Writers Resist Reading" on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the First Unitarian Church in Ithaca. The reading will feature IC alumnus Dubian Ade and IC faculty members Christine Kitano, Raza Rumi, and Saviana Stanescu, among others. The event is free and open to everyone.
Writers Resist is a nationwide collective of writers that formed shortly after the election in order to resist “that which attacks or seeks to undermine those most basic principles of freedom and justice for all.” On January 15, Writers Resist will stage over 80 readings across the United States and in Europe and Asia.
In addition to the writers above, our event will feature six other writers—Michelle Courtney Berry, Sorayya Khan, Tish Pearlman, Bob Proehl, Dan Rosenberg, and Helena María Viramontes—all of whom will read works by other writers that speak to the principles of justice and equality and the ideals of freedom and democracy. All donations will go to Ithaca Welcomes Refugees.
