FYRE seeks interested faculty and staff to be FYRE Associates for 2017-2018!

The First-Year Residential Experience (FYRE) is an educational community experience for first-year students with goals of easing student transitions, supporting academic success, and furthering student learning.

The FYRE Associate plays an integral role in success of our first-year students by providing leadership for the educational initiatives within each FYRE residential cluster at Ithaca College. Each year, with the support of FYRE Student Associates and Resident Assistants, FYRE Associates direct the execution of FOUR Residential Learning Initiatives during the academic year in the area of Diversity & Inclusion, Sustainability, OR Social & Emotional Learning. (Residential Learning Initiatives are events, campaigns, or other learning strategies that further students understanding of a specific learning outcome.)

Residential Learning Initiatives are focused in three areas:

  1. Diversity & Inclusion (with a specific emphasis towards helping students identify benefits of engaging with diverse perspectives).
     
  2. Sustainability (with a specific emphasis towards helping students identify practices that contribute to a sustainable community).
     
  3. Social & Emotional Learning (with a specific emphasis towards helping students nurture positive interactions with others).

Qualifications:

Compensation:
Individuals who serve as an FYRE Associate will receive a $1,100 stipend for the academic year.
