Ithaca, NY- On Thursday, April 6th, Ithaca College Theatre invites you to an event celebrating local, social activism. This event relates to “The Cradle Will Rock,” the musical currently in performance in Dillingham.

“The Cradle Will Rock” is a musical about workers’ rights and corruption in industrial America. It is a foundational piece in our modern system of unions and protest, as it came during, and in response to, the Great Depression. In commemoration of these historic roots, we are inviting local social activist organizations to come to the show and display their cause at a pre-show exhibit.

This event will take place in the Dillingham lobby preceding the performance on Thursday, April 6th. The lobby will be open for audience members and students alike to mingle and learn about Ithaca activism from 7-7:45. If you, or an organization you are involved with, would like to participate, please contact Sydney Hill at shill3@ithaca.edu. Many community and campus organizations are deeply committed to fighting for rights on a wide range of issues. 70 years after it was first performed, “The Cradle Will Rock” speaks to some of these same struggles.

This is a free event available to anyone in the Ithaca College Community as well as local Ithaca community members.

“The Cradle Will Rock” has performances on April 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th at 8 pm as well as April 8th at 2 pm. Tickets are currently available online at Ithaca.ticketforce.com. You may call or visit the Dillingham Center Box Office Monday-Thursday, noon-5 p.m.; and Friday noon-4 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased over the phone at (607) 274-3224.
