Ithaca College Italian Club is a student organization that aims to spread Italian culture and pride across the Ithaca College campus. The student organization plans many Italian-themed events to encourage students of Italian and non-Italian descent to unite and celebrate Italian culture. In the past year, they have held a cannoli fundraiser and a charity event to raise money for earthquake relief in Italy. This past week, they held a very successful “Annual Pizza-Off” where approximately 100 students were able to sample local Ithaca pizza.

While still in their first year of being a recognized student organization, the Italian Club proves that student organizations can make a major difference on IC’s campus. President and founder, Nicole Veltri said that “almost all of our members come from homes that have very strong Italian-American heritage with no sense of that Italian-American community in Ithaca.” Therefore, the Italian Club has provided many IC students with a sense of home and of culture.

Going forward, Nicole hopes that the Italian Club can establish a permanent bocce court, a venue for the popular Italian sport. If you are interested in helping with that project or any of their amazing events, the Italian Club holds meetings every other Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Friends 201. You can follow them on Facebook and Orgsync.
