Library System Migration and Updates

04/14/17

Contributed by Dan Taylor

This summer, the IC Library is migrating to a Unified Resource Management system (URM).

The URM will replace the current system, implemented in 2001, that is no longer being actively developed by the vendor and will be retired as a supported platform. The URM allows the library to more efficiently manage our collections and provides expanded integration with systems such as Homer and Sakai.

The migration brings about a few changes to our website and Argos, our library search. As of May 13, 2017, the library’s catalog search (books, DVDs, CDs, scores, etc.) will be available solely through Argos. If you are accustomed to the legacy catalog search, here is a very short video that shows how to search the catalog in Argos.

If you use the “My Shelf” feature in Argos and you would like to keep a record of what you had saved, you will need to export your saved items list as an RIS file by August 29.

A series of short informational videos is being created to demonstrate how to search for a book, search for music, begin a research project, and narrow search results.
