We invite you to learn about HeatSmart and solutions for individuals to eliminate the enormous GHG footprint associated with residential heating at a brown bag lunch presentation.

HeatSmart, a program on renewable heating and cooling, focuses on the depth and vigor of our commitment to a sustainable future.  Relying on renewable energy requires not just windmills and solar panels, but electrification of all major sectors producing GHG emissions.

Heat pumps can provide the electrification of 75% of an average home’s energy use, energy which is currently supplied primarily by fuel oil, propane, and natural gas.  No plans advocating for a society running primarily on renewable energy are possible without the widescale replacement of fuel-burning heating systems by electric heat pumps.

HeatSmart provides an overview on these issues, an introduction to the latest technologies, illustrations of many great opportunities to move forward,  and a path to make it all easy to do.

The presentation will take place Tuesday, May 16th from noon to 1 pm in Taughannock Falls Conference Room in Campus Center. All are welcome to attend.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact the Office of Energy Management and Sustainability at (607) 274-3763 or revans1@ithaca.edu. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
