The School of Music extends best wishes to two of our longstanding Performance Studies faculty as they journey on to a new phase. We are grateful to Randie Blooding and David Parks for their invaluable service and contributions to the Department. We applaud their significant impact on our students, both past and present.
Baritone, Randie Blooding joined the Ithaca College faculty in 1990. A native of Colorado, he holds degrees from Colorado State University, Southern Methodist University, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Ohio State University. In addition to his 27 years as a Professor of Voice teaching at Ithaca College, he also taught at Southern Methodist University, Ohio State University, and Middle Tennessee University. He is a former national winner of the Federation of Music Artist competition and a regional winner of both the Met and National Association of Teachers of Singing competitions. He enjoyed a significant career as both an opera singer and recitalist. Many of his former students are enjoying careers across the United States.
Tenor David Parks studied Music education choral/voice at Westminster Choir College, vocal performance at University of Michigan before obtaining his D. M. A. from the University of Arizona. David has sung major roles throughout the USA and Eastern Europe, and has appeared with opera companies and orchestras, as well as festivals in Vienna and Italy. Highlights include his Carnegie hall debut in Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah, tenor solos in the Mozart Requiem tribute concert with the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and a the three-month residency in South Africa. David began his teaching career at College of William and Mary, before coming to Ithaca College in 1987. For 30 years, David has been dedicated to helping his students to become the best musicians that they can. His former former students are professional singers in opera and on Broadway, music educators on the college and public school levels, arts administrators, entertainers, and conductors in both the United States and Europe.
