New Directions Cello Festival (June 16-18)

The New Directions Cello Festival is a performance and educational forum for non-classical cello, featuring performances, workshops, and jam sessions led by guest artists (and their groups) who are pioneering new directions for cellists in a wide variety of styles.

Join us on campus to attend several evening concerts during the New Directions Cello Festival, taking place on campus at Ithaca College from June 16-18. Featured concerts take place every evening on Friday, June 16, Saturday, June 17, and Sunday, June 18. All concerts are open to the public, and tickets are available online and at the door.

Concert 1:
When: Friday, June 16 from 7:30 - 10:30 PM
Where: Hockett Family Recital Hall, Ithaca College School of Music
Who: Jake Charkey, Tomeka Reid with Artifacts Trio, and Gunther Tiedemann & Thomas Rueckert
Tickets available for $20 w/ discount tickets available to students, seniors, and kids under 12

Concert 2:
When: Saturday, June 17 from 7:30 - 10:30 PM
Where: Hockett Family Recital Hall, Ithaca College School of Music
Who: Zach Brown and Friends, Malcolm Parson, and Yaniel Matos
Tickets available for $20 w/ discount tickets available to students, seniors, and kids under 12

Concert 3:
When: Sunday, June 18 from 1:30 - 3:00 PM
Where: Hockett Family Recital Hall, Ithaca College School of Music
Who: Open Mic for Participants & Cello Big Band performance
Concert is free to attend

The festival runs from noon on Friday though 3pm on Sunday with workshops during the days, amazing performances on Friday and Saturday evenings (open to the public) with the guest artists and a free farewell concert (open to the public) by the Cello Big Band (open to all participants, staff and guest artists) on Sunday afternoon.
