School of Music Professor Janet Galván guest conducts across the country

Dr. Janet Galván had an active year as a guest conductor and clinician.  In July of 2016, she led a choral tour of singers from Perth, Australia, Pennsylvania, and Georgia on a tour to Belfast and Dublin, presenting concerts to packed, enthusiastic audiences.  

 

 


Dr. Janet Galván had an active year as a guest conductor and clinician.  In July of 2016, she led a choral tour of singers from Perth, Australia, Pennsylvania, and Georgia on a tour to Belfast and Dublin, presenting concerts to packed, enthusiastic audiences.  

She led a conducting masterclass at the New York State School Music Association at their winter conference.

In January, she conducted the Oregon High School All State Chorus as well as the Oklahoma High School All State Treble Chorus.  In Oregon, she also presented a session for attending teachers.

In February, she was the guest conductor for One World, Many Voices in Pensacola, Florida.

She traveled to Hawaii to be the artistic director for the Hawaiian Music Festival in April.

She also conducted at a Hawaiian Music Festival hosted by Justin Ka’upu.

Galván was honored to receive the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for Music Education and Choral Music.
