Periodic delays for some DEPARTMENTAL package deliveries

IC Mail Service has seen a shift in later carrier delivery times to Ithaca College, especially from FedEx Ground (and to a lesser extent, UPS Ground). Mail Service frequently receives those packages after the necessary load time onto our vehicles, delaying the start of our scheduled afternoon departmental delivery routes.

To ensure that all other packages we have received can be delivered to departments before closing, GROUND packages received late may be held for delivery the next business day.

This is especially true on Fridays during the summer when all departments close 2 hours early. Mail Services attempts deliveries before departments close, and this tightly compressed window may necessitate delaying late arriving Ground packages until the following Monday. Packages marked as requiring refrigeration will be still attempted for delivery the same day.

Departments may contact the Mail Center to inquire if a Ground package has arrived late and is being delayed to the next day (please have tracking number ready). Such packages can be picked up from the Mail Center if needed the same day.

This adjustment is not expected to affect student packages.
