In support of sustainable food systems and healthy eating, Ithaca Dining Services and the Humane Society of the United States hosted Forward Food on August 3rd

Over thirty guests from regional universities, healthcare facilities, and corporations were in attendance to enhance their knowledge on the benefits of eating a plant-based diet. “Forward Food is a program that teaches food and nutrition professionals to learn the importance of supporting healthy and sustainable living in their communities and how to help achieve a more profitable, healthy, and sustainable dining operation,” said Stephanie Heath-Higgins, Food Policy Coordinator—Upstate New York, Humane Society of the United States. Forward Food events bring together food service professionals, industry leaders and others to meet in a peer-to-peer environment, gaining insights into the latest trends in both implementing and marketing plant-based food programs.
