Dr. Philip Byers of Farmingdale State College will present “A Investigation into the Synthesis and Properties of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons”
Tuesday, September 5th 12:10 pm in CNS 333
Pizza and Drinks Provided
Great attention has been paid to polycyclic hydrocarbons that possess π-conjugation systems such as pentacene and its derivatives because they are promising as field-effect transistors (FET), electroluminescence (EL) materials, and semiconductors. Both the importance and the performance of organic electronic devices have increased significantly over the last 20 years, evolving from a field with great promise for new materials and applications to a real industry with a few commercial products on the market. This work looks to solve problems that have hindered the selectivity for the synthesis of carbon based electronics by proposing bottom-up instead of top-down methodologies.
